The NHS health check programme is available to all patients aged 40-74 years old every 5 years who are not currently receiving treatment for a chronic illness that would mean that they are already seeing their doctor regularly.
The health check takes between 20-30 minutes and involves having some straightforward recording undertaken of things such as your height, weight and blood pressure. You will also be asked questions about your family history and your lifestyle. Blood tests might be arranged to check your cholesterol and your blood sugar levels for diabetes.
At the health check you will receive personalised structured advice from one of our team about your health and ways that you might be able to improve your health, as well as reduce your risks of developing health conditions such as heart disease and diabetes.
