We offer the seasonal flu vaccination ‘the flu jab’ every year.
Flu can be unpleasant for anyone but for someone who is otherwise healthy it usually clears up within a week. For people in certain groups however it can be more serious. For these people the flu jab is available free of charge.
The flu vaccination is given by injection to most people but to children it can be given via a nasal spray.
You are eligible for a free flu vaccination if –
- You are pregnant
- Are aged 65 years or over, or children aged 2, 3 or 4 on 1st September 2014
- You live in a residential home or long stay care facility
- You receive a carers allowance or care for someone who is elderly or disabled whose health might be put a risk if you catch flu
- You are a health or social care worker
Or if you suffer with –
- Asthma
