Contraception

At the practice we offer the full range of contraceptive options.

Should you wish to discuss contraception options please make an appointment to see one of our practice nurses will be able to discuss each option with you and help you weigh up the pros and cons of each.

Contraception is free to most people in the UK and allows you to choose when and if you have a baby.  The only way to protect yourself against sexually transmitted infections (STI) is by using a condom, the other contraceptive options can help protect against pregnancy but not STIs.

If you have had unprotected sexual intercourse (USI) and are worried about getting pregnant you should make an urgent appointment to see a doctor or nurse to discuss this.  Emergency contraception has to be taken as soon as possible after the episode of USI, ideally within 72 hours.

Both Dr Vaskovic and Dr Seiger fit and remove the contraceptive implant.  Dr Vaskovic additionally fits the contraceptive coil and Mirena IUS.
